About the Introduce Yourself category

Introduce yourself to other Arabic learners here. What dialect are you learning? What made you interested in Arabic?

Hello everyone,

My name is Noman Mohammad. I am from Brussels. I am very much into langage, french being my mother tongue. Being of Pakistani descent ( from a mixed background), I’ve learnt Urdu and Punjabi as my daddy has always been speaking french to me. I have been learning MSA for a few years now. I’ve felt a lot of frustation not being able to communicate properly with Arab people (particularly when I was in Mekka/Madina) : they could understand me but I couldn’t so I started learning Egyptian arabic, which seems pretty close to me to Hejazi arabic. I’ve finished studying kalaam gamil 1 &2, Kalimni arabic aktar, kalimni arabic mazboot and I am currently into kalimni arabi fi kulli haaga. Still very hard to understand any egyptian talking due to a lack of exposure to the language as most arab living here in belgium are from Morocco (most of them not being arab but amazigh) and now from syria due to the syrian civil war.

I am looking forward to learning a lot from you and hopefully I’ll help you too when I have a good command of the language.

Thanks for sharing with us, Noman. Keep up the good work. I’m working on Levantine dialect and I always feel that learning is really a long run. We should encourage each other! Salaam
